Latest Units off the Painting Table

Russian Cossacks from Front Rank for my Wallmoden's Korps. Aside from the piping and the horse leather, the figures were done with GW washes over a white primer. The headgear were done with just a black wash, but the distinct difference in the chords and the colpack was done varying both the number of coats and the dilution of the wash.

  1. Very nice work there!

I just love the Front Rank Cossacks! I've been prepping some myself for service with my Streifkorps, and they are a real joy to work on.

  2. Thanks Robert, I am certainly not as tidy as you. I was looking at those white straps on your latest blog entry with envy.
What was neat about painting these figures, was that the whole job aside from the piping to distinguish the regiments and the straps on the horses was done using washes over a white prime.

  3. Nice cossacks there!

Your highland force is made up of what manufacturer(s)?

  4. The highlanders are mixed between FR and Foundry. The light Highland battalion to the right is FR figures. The infantry to the left is mixed with FR in the foreground and Foundry to the far left. I plan to sort this out in the future, but many other "fish to fry" in the short term.

Heh, I was looking with considerable envy at yours -at least it looks like you are already having fun actually gaming, and with good looking units on a good looking layout.

I'm still aiming for critical mass, and I'm a long way off!

I do like the look of the buildings you are using. Are they resin?

They are all resin, the problem I am having is that the advertised scale of most manufacturers are meaningless. I plan to do a blog entry on it as I am sampling several manufacturers.

I am having fun with FoB.

  7. Col Campbell looks with envy on your Highland Brigade. All he has in his Napoleonic British Army are the 42nd Black Watch and the 71st HLI, although the 2nd RNBD (Scots Greys) are being raised.
