Feldbattalion Bremen

Next up, as promised, is FB Bremen. These are Perry figures and are quite distinct for their caps and their blue trousers, although most references appear to support shakos rather then caps.

They fielded 533 troops under Lt Colonel Langrehr at Waterloo. They evolved from a light battalion that was formed in 1813 which had fought at the infamous Battle of Gohrde.
The officer is an Elite figure, I for some reason or another feel that Elite go best with Perry's. The troops have black facings and black leather, something I always find a challenge to paint.
Well that is the second battalion of 5, I finished the next battalion last night after work and should have the basing finished by Tuesday and ready to post. Half of these were painted a couple of years ago, the latest figures are in the front row. I particularly like this Flagdude banner.

  1. Wonderful looking unit!!

You mentioned black is giving you some trouble then I suggest Vallejo German Grey. It gives a very natural and smooth highlight by itself and if you want more impact then just add a touch of white.

  2. Thanks Chris, I sometimes use The Granite Grey from the GW Foundation line, but I do have a German Grey, so I will give it a try next time.

  4. Your more then welcome.:-)

I'm a huge fan of Foundry paints, but in this particular case I think German grey is better then Granite or Slate.. It's like a wonder highlight for black.
